Licence plate recognition for gates, car parks and roads
Nara finds licence plates in the camera view and reads them with OCR models that include Thai characters. It checks each plate against an allow-list or booking, opens the barrier, logs time in and out, and alerts on unknown vehicles.

[ 01 ]The problem
Vehicles entering and leaving a site are logged by hand at the gate, and parking and enforcement need a reliable plate record.

- 03actionCheck the allow-list or booking, open the barrier, log time in and out, alert on unknown vehicles
How it works
Nara’s plate detector finds the number plate and OCR reads it. The plate is looked up in a database table that holds your allow-list or bookings. Known vehicles open the barrier through digital I/O; unknown vehicles raise an alert. Every read is logged with time in and out, so parking duration and gate records come for free.
Works with Nara’s built-in models. You set up the zones, rules and outputs.
[ 02 ]Variations
The same building blocks, applied a few ways.
- 01
Site gates and logistics
Trucks entering and leaving are checked against the allow-list or booking, the barrier opens, and time in and out is logged.
- 02
Car parks
Plate reads give parking duration and recognise VIP or tenant vehicles. Car brand and model recognition adds customer profiling.
- 03
Roads and enforcement
Plate reads support enforcement, access control and investigations, and provide evidence for traffic violations.
What you need
- A camera positioned for plates at the gate or lane
- A barrier controller with digital I/O, Modbus or TCP/IP

FAQ
Questions, answered.
Does it read Thai plates?
Nara includes a plate detector and OCR models with Thai characters. Talk to us about your site conditions, such as camera angle, lighting and vehicle speed.
Does it need an internet connection?
No. Nara runs on your own hardware on the local network, and images and results stay on-site. Eligible tiers also support offline licensing locked to the hardware.
